"iGemology" is a comprehensive professional tool designed to assist gem trade professionals and enthusiasts with gemstone weight estimation, identification, and evaluation of commonly encountered gems within the industry.

Developed and designed by a verified Graduate Gemologist, the application targets individuals engaged in gem trading and collection.

The included colored stones encompass: Andalusite, Apatite, Benitoite, Beryl (Aquamarine, Heliodor, Morganite, and other colored varieties, as well as synthetic and natural Emeralds), Chrysoberyl, Alexandrite (colored: synthetic and natural), Corundum (including Blue Sapphire, Ruby, Pink Sapphire, and other fancy sapphires—both natural and synthetic), Natural Diamonds, Diopside, Garnet (Almandine, Andradite, Grossularite, Malaya, Pyrope, Rhodolite, Spessartite), Iolite, Peridot, Quartz (Amethyst and Citrine—AGG not included), Sphene, Spinel (natural; synthetic versions are not yet included), Spodumene (Kunzite), Topaz, Tourmaline, Zoisite, and Zircon.

Stones with limited commercial relevance due to subpar physical or optical qualities have been initially excluded; these are primarily of interest to specialized scientific fields such as mineralogy.

The application boasts an efficient and user-friendly interface designed for expeditious workflow—allowing users to initiate tasks rapidly without the need for manuals or instructional videos. The layout reflects standard practices employed by gemologists, jewelers, and industry professionals in their daily operations.

The weight estimation feature includes the "Forget Not" function for referencing current cut style, enabling users to concentrate on precise measurements. This proves especially valuable when managing multiple gems with varying shapes.

In addition to 11 standard diamond cut patterns, the weight estimator offers 14 established faceted cut styles for colored stones across 60 gem species and varieties. This results in a total of 840 unique gemstone entries—free from redundant listings often found in inferior applications.

All functionalities are compatible with iOS devices. Future updates will introduce additional gemstone varieties.

Inputting length and width values automatically computes the average diameter or width along with total depth—streamlining work on ideal and well-proportioned gems.

The Gem Reference section facilitates quick access to essential information. For detailed physical and optical property data—including spectral readings—a dedicated tap provides comprehensive details on commonly encountered gems.

Size-to-weight reference tables for diamonds across all shapes and various colored gemstones are included for quick consultation purposes.

An educational feature provides gemstone weight estimation formulas for training and review activities.
